Education and Career Advice

Keeping up With Changes in Your School

Starting college is somewhat of a big deal. Changes in friends, class size, responsibilities, living situations, you name it and most college students will deal with it. However, there are ways to cope and keep up with all of the changes that happen once you start college.

  • Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. You would be surprised how many people understand and are more than happy to help when you need it.
  • If you have a lot of things to buy and not a lot of money to spend try using back to school coupons to save you a little bit of money. It is good to save money specifically because emergencies happen.
  • Try to make friends in class and around campus. It is helpful to know other students and you would be surprised how much information you can get when you have someone who is in the same boat.
  • Always carry a phone with you. In case of emergency or boredom having a phone can help get you advice, attention, or just a buddy to hang out with.
  • Write everything down. When you are in doubt write down everything, teachers expect you to take awesome notes, know when things are due, and be pretty much perfect students.

Ultimately you might fail a few classes, cry a few times, and miss home a lot. But there is nothing like the ability to come home for Christmas and other school holidays and share all of the new experiences and gossip from college!
